A Day In The City
March 15, 2017
Whenever I am home for break, I love taking a trip to the city for a day of shopping and relaxing. Chicago is such a beautiful city and I always feel grateful that I live close by. Me and my friend Emma, always have our special routines whenever we go down. We like to visit stores that we don't have at home, and take the time to enjoy some of the beautiful views of the city. Once we get off the train, our first stop is Intelligentsia. It's a cute little coffee shop on Randolph St. near Millennium Park. Their lattes are amazing and I get one every time I go. They are super smooth and have an amazing taste. Sometimes on the way back home, I stop in for a second one! It can get busy since it is near a large tourist location, but it is worth the wait. They also have multiple locations, so next time you are in Chicago, definitely check them out!
Here is a picture of the Latte that I got! I usually get it without flavor, but they have a mocha option which is also delicious.
Even though I am from the Chicago area, I still love going to visit Millennium Park. It is a beautiful area to walk around and enjoy the view of all the buildings and the lake. The best time to go is in the summer, but it is still nice to spend time there in the colder months because it isn't packed with tourists. For all the bloggers out there, the Lurie Gardens is the best place to take outfit photos. There is always great lighting and you get great shots of the buildings in the background. The Nichols Bridgeway is also a great spot! It is my favorite place to look at the view of the city while enjoying my latte.
It was a pretty cold day in Chicago, so for my outfit I wore my favorite aviator jacket, a thick cream sweater and some skinny jeans. This aviator jacket has been a winter staple for me. The winters in the Midwest can get pretty cold and sometimes I want to wear something a little more stylish than a puffy down jacket. This style is the perfect option because it is super thick and has fur lining on the inside. So I definitely don't feel cold when I am wearing it. Whenever I take a trip to the city during the winter time, I like to wear turtle neck sweaters so I don't have to wear a scarf. It's convenient because I don't have to carry around a scarf all day and I won't get too warm when I am shopping in stores. The sweater that I am wearing is currently on sale at H&M, so I will have it linked for you down below! Shoe wise, I always recommend to wear something that is worn in and comfortable since you will be doing a lot of walking. I purchased these boots from Old Navy two years ago and they are my go to. They are super stylish and I love the pointed-toe because it helps make my legs look longer. I own a lot of black boots, so the tan color is nice for when I want to switch up my look. My sunglasses are from Express and to me they look just like the Dior "So Real" sunglasses, so these are a great dupe. I love getting sunglasses from Express because they always have similar styles that designers create. My bag is from Rebecca Minkoff, which I recently just got and I'm obsessed. It is the perfect size for when you want to pack light and it isn't bulky! I love the gold hardware, especially at the bottom because it helps the bag stand up. Expect a whole detailed post on it in the near future!
