New Skin Care Favorites

January 25, 2017

Over the past few months, I’ve noticed that my skin has been going through a bit of a rough patch. The drastic change in temperatures this winter season has really taken a toll on my skin, so I decided to make some new additions to my skincare routine. I usually have combination skin, but I’ve noticed that it has been on the oiler side and I’m starting to develop some texture. Throughout the end of December and all of January, I have tested these three products and I feel like they have helped my skin go back to normal.

I wanted to switch things up in my routine so I tried a new exfoliator. I decided to go with Kiehl’s because I feel like their products show instant results and I wanted to test something more powerful. It helps smooth skin, diminish facial lines, and reduces the appearance of pores. The consistency is very grainy and sand-like, which is perfect for removing dead skin and getting rid of texture. I do have very sensitive skin, but the exfoliator that I mentioned in my last skin care post has a similar consistency, so I knew it wouldn’t be a problem for me. The directions say to exfoliate for approximately 30 seconds, but no more than 2 minutes. This is a very abrasive product, so do NOT go over this time recommendation. I was a little heavy handed with the product on my first use and experienced some irritation, so I took a break from it and tried a lighter hand the second time.

This product is life changing! I woke up the next morning with instant results. My skin felt velvety smooth and I could already see my pores beginning to reduce. This product is going to become a permanent part of my routine. I recommend using it once or twice a week and a small amount goes a long way!

Almost everyone in the beauty industry has raved about this product and how it gives instant results, and I completely agree! I have been going to a dermatologist for a few years now and no topical has given me results like this product. When I see the first signs of a blemish, I put this on and it is gone by morning. This lotion is formulated with Calamine, Salicylic Acid, Sulfur, and Zinc Oxide to really help draw impurities from the skin. It is also perfect for those horrible and huge under the skin blemishes. Since you can’t shake this product, you need to use a cotton swab so the sediment doesn’t mix with the liquid. This product should have a clay mask consistency after you apply it to your breakout. Now, it does have a strong alcohol smell when you apply it, but that quickly goes unnoticeable.

I am a huge fan of face masks and I have been on the hunt for a new clay mask. Estée LaLonde (look her up on Youtube if you have never heard of her, she’s amazing!) has mentioned this Origins mask a few times on her channel, so I decided to give it a go. This is a great mask to help deeply clean your skin while also retexturizing it. This has become my go-to mask for when my skin is looking a little dull and lifeless. As soon as I remove this mask, my skin is glowing! Jojoba beads are included in this mask, so sometimes I will swap my Kiehl’s scrub out to avoid over exfoliation. This mask is perfect for controlling oil while making your skin smooth and glowy!

  2. Definitely going to try out the drying lotion. Lately, my skin is worse than in my teens. :(
